NEED FOR REPAIRS DELAYS BOAT LAUNCH OPENING ON BREAKWATER DRIVE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT  

In an effort to remain on schedule TKTMJ is  working with the City of New Orleans to include repairs to the boat launch to the Breakwater Drive improvement project. Final approval on this expanded scope will be determined by FEMA this month. Crews continue to work on the new parking surfaces. Additional scope has moved anticipated completion to fall 2021.  Residents will continue to be notified of the work schedule as details develop.

UPCOMING WATERLINE WORK AND SCHEDULED ASPHALT PLACEMENT ON WEST END GROUP A PROJECT

In close collaberation with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, Beverly construction will resume waterline work on the  West End Group A  project this month. Waterline tie-ins are scheduled for Center and 36th streets, with more areas to follow throughout the remainder of March / early April. Asphalt work is set to begin on 14th and 30th streets in April as well. The project remains close to 80 percent complete with a target for an early spring wrap up.

ROADWAY RESTORATION CONTINUES IN NAVARRE GROUP A PROJECT

Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC crews began removing the roadway surface on General Diaz between Homedale and Pontalba this month, and patched areas along Vicksburg and Homedale streets. Crews replaced the faulty hydrant at Louque and General Diaz streets, and applied the binder layer of asphalt to portions of East Park and Central Park places. The roadway base on South Park Place was removed and will be regraded. A density test will be performed before the binder layer is reinstalled. Binder is one of the final layers of pavement restoration and it is drivable.

PAVEMENT RESTORATION CONTINUES IN HOLLYGROVE, LEONIDAS GROUP A PROJECT

In March, Drennan Construction, LLC installed asphalt in the 2400 and 2500 blocks of Mistletoe Street and started the repaving process in the 1900 block of Dublin Street. Crews also began pouring new concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons throughout the project footprint. Roadway excavation began in the 8900 blocks of Apple and Nelson and was followed with installation of the binder layer of asphalt. The binder is one of the final layers of pavement restoration and residents are able to drive on it.

City Encourages Participation In Upcoming Community Meeting

Today, the City of New Orleans announced an engagement opportunity for residents to learn about an upcoming roadwork project. Construction on the $5.1 million bond-funded Octavia Street (Freret-Claiborne) project is scheduled to begin next month and will be complete in early winter 2021, weather permitting.
