DRAIN LINE WORK CONTINUES IN TREME-LAFITTE GROUP A

In March, Command Construction Industries continued sewer main and sewer house connection replacements on North Rocheblave Street at Orleans Avenue. The contractor also brought in another crew to expand the amount of underground drainage work under way throughout the project footprint. Additional crews installed new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps on Bayou Road from North Roman Street to North Johnson Street, and on Barracks Street from North Roman to North Johnson Street.

ST.  CLAUDE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WRAPPED IN MARCH

The St. Claude Drainage Improvement Project project has been declared substantially complete as the contractor, Infinity Construction, finished up the project punch list this month. The $1.5M infrastructure improvement project, which began in October 2019, was designed by Waggoner Engineering and funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant Program.

CANAL BOULEVARD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT DECLARED SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETE

Major construction on the $4.5M Canal Boulevard Reconstruction (Robert E. Lee Boulevard – Amethyst Street) project was completed in March, and contractor Palmisano Conctruction began addressing final clean-up and punch list items. The scope of work for the project, which started in summer 2019 included replacing the drain, sewer and water lines, rebuilding the street entirely, repairing sidewalks and curbs, installing a dedicated bike lane, and installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-complaint curb ramps on the north- and southbound lanes.

ST. CLAUDE GROUP C CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES TO MAKE PROGRESS

The $7.3M St. Claude Group C project broke ground in March 2020 and continues to make significant progress improving infrastructure in the St. Claude neighborhood. This full-depth reconstruction project was designed by Rahman & Associates, Inc. and is being constructed by Durr Heavy Construction, LLC. Current focus of work remains on Port Street with waterline and sewer line replacements, as well as asphalt preparations on the far end of the area. The contractor moves toward project completion, which is expected in late summer 2021.

BAYOU ST. JOHN, FAIRGROUNDS, SEVENTH WARD GROUP A PROJECT

The $11.7M Bayou St. John, Fairgrounds, Seventh Ward Group A project is set to begin construction in March / April 2021. This project was designed by Urban Systems, Associates, Inc. and will be constructed by Fleming Construction Company, LLC.  Click here to view a map of the project scope. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2022, weather permitting.
