A $3M full road reconstruction project is slated to start in early 2021 in New Orleans East. Scope of work for the Old Spanish Trail (Nighthart St. - Sherwood Dr.) varies.

Roadway restoration is ongoing along Dwyer, Bergerac, Savoie and Lourdes streets, and new sidewalk and driveway apron installations are underway throughout the $7.3M Village De L’Est Group B infrastructure improvement project in New Orleans East. The $3.2M Pines Village Group B project is nearing completion. Currently the pavement restoration is at 95 percent complete, with crews still working on sidewalks, driveway aprons and installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps. Both the drainage and the water line work are at 100 percent complete, and crews are addressing clean-up issues as well as a broken inlet. Scope of work for the project includes replacing damaged underground drainage lines, repaving the roadway, replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons, and installing ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections. Construction began in March 2020.

The $18.2M Pines Village Group A infrastructure improvement project, which broke ground in January 2020, continues to make progress toward its completion. Designed by All South Consulting Engineers, Inc., the project is being constructed by Wallace C. Drennan, Inc. The contractor continues to focus on finishing water main installations on East Laverne Street, Stemway Drive, Morrison Road west of Downman Road, Jordan Road and Pines Boulevard. Asphalt removal and replacement is taking place in the 5800 block Dwyer, along with concrete removal and replacement in the 6200 – 6300 blocks or Morrison. Roadway excavation, sidewalk and driveway apron removal will begin in the coming months on the 6900-7100 blocks of Virgilian and the 5900-6200 blocks of Dorothea. The entire project is expected to be completed in summer 2021.

The  Read Boulevard Group D project moved into 85 percent completion after the installation of water lines in early November. This moves the project into the substantial completion phase. Beverly Construction Co., LLC, plans to complete new water lines, upgraded drainage and roadway paving by the end of the year.
