Patrons of the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission’s (NORDC) Joe W. Brown Memorial Park facility can expect improved mobility throughout the park in a few months. Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC was awarded a $1.2M contract to reconstruct the bridge over the North Lagoon.
Construction crews will start by building pedestrian access ramps on both sides of the project limits before driving piles to remove water from the portion of the lagoon that will house the new bridge. Delivery of the pre-fabricated bridge is expected in the summer and construction will be concluded by the end of August 2017.
The bridge is the first part of a larger investment in the Park’s infrastructure. In addition to the bridge construction, the Capital Improvement Program will invest another $1.4M in the park. Patrons are reminded to use caution when walking, driving or biking near active construction sites.
