The Michoud Blvd. Reconstruction Project was awarded to Cycle Construction Company, LLC and the scope includes reconstructing the portion of Michoud Blvd. from Chef Menteur Hwy. to Dwyer Rd.
The project scope includes the following:
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Rd.;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Hwy; and
- Installing new sidewalks and American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The reconstruction project was designed and will be managed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. Construction is scheduled to begin in late May and will last about one year. During construction commuters, trucks and buses should expect to detour to Alcee Fortier Blvd.
Residents interested in learning more about the $3.8M Michoud Blvd. Reconstruction Project should plan to attend the upcoming pre-construction community meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 4 at 6 p.m. at Einstein Charter School.
