The Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project is approximately 49 percent complete. The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC. Inclement weather and unforeseen site conditions shifted the project schedule, which has pushed the projected completion date into late summer 2018.
Crews are currently paving the lakebound travel lane and forming up new sidewalks and driveway aprons. Installation of the sewer main line is completed though crews are continuing to install new house connections. The final water line in the lake bound lane is schedule to be installed and tied into the water distribution system this month.
Crews will be shifting traffic control to begin utility work in the riverbound lane this month. Excavation of existing utilities is currently underway under portions of the river bound sidewalks.
Traffic control signs and barrels are in place to keep residents and commuters safe. Please mind the traffic control signs and barricades and never move them from their assigned locations.
The $3.8 million reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turnaround on Dwyer Road;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Highway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
