City of New Orleans contractor Wallace C. Drennan, in compliance with Sewerage and Water Board New Orleans and new guidelines in response to COVID-19, has paused all waterline tie-ins on the Lower Ninth Ward Northwest Group B project. Crews will continue to install the new water and drainage lines on Reynes Street, but none of the new utility lines will be tied to the existing water supply until further notice. Residents will continue to be notified ahead of any work that will impact their access and utilities.
This $5.7M project, designed by Burk–Kleinpeter, Inc., varies block by block but includes the following:
• Installation of new subsurface drainage, sewer, and water lines;
• Removal and replacement of sidewalks and driveways aprons;
• Installation of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections;
• Manhole adjustments; and
• Repaving of the roadway.
Details of this project were made available at the pre-construction public meeting. View a copy of the public meeting presentation here.
