On Monday, April 26, 2021, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., weather permitting, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works' contractor, Wallace C. Drennan Construction Company, will temporarily close the westbound side of the 6300 block of Fontainebleau Drive between Calhoun Street and Versailles Boulevard to perform underground waterline operations as part of the Marlyville-Fontainebleau Group C infrastructure improvement project. Residents in this area are being notified of the closure via a neighborhood canvass this week.
Public safety is our priority; lane closure signs will be in place throughout construction. During this time, street parking and/or driveway access will be impacted. Residents and visitors are advised to adhere to “No Parking” signs on the streets to avoid being ticketed and towed and to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near the construction site.
The $10.5M Marlyville-Fontainebleau Group C infrastructure improvement project calls for removing and replacing existing water and drainage lines, repairing the sewer line, repaving the roadway in asphalt, replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons and installing Americans with Disabilities Act- compliant curb ramps at intersections. The project began in October 2020 and is expected to be completed in winter 2022, weather permitting.
Since May 2018, 28 roadwork projects totaling $151M have been completed.
Today, more than 60 roadwork projects are under construction, valued at nearly $600 million.
