The City of New Orleans’ Department of Public Works, Parks and Parkways, Sewerage and Water Board, Richard C. Lambert Consultants, LLC and Hard Rock Construction, LLC are preparing for the final inspection of the Lakeview North Group A project.
Final inspection includes testing to ensure that the design of the new roadway, sidewalks, curbs and gutters enables water to flow to lower elevations, away from buildings and structures. Additionally, there will also be a thorough check to guarantee that the new roadway is free of subsidence and that all manholes are even with the street. Parks and Parkways will inventory the area to make certain that any disturbed vegetation and/or greenspace has been sufficiently replaced.
This $2.3M project, which began in May 2017, was designed to correct multiple roadway concerns. The scope of work varied by block but included the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing them with new, smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing them with new, smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
Details of the construction sequencing and timeline were first made available at the pre-construction public meeting. View a copy of the public meeting presentation and details about construction sequencing here.
