The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, has now completed 80 percent of the first of three planned FEMA-funded construction projects in the Village de L’est neighborhood.
Construction crews are concentrating on roadway paving operations at this time, in addition to driveway aprons and sidewalk work. The original contract included a 15-month construction duration, but the project team anticipates that this project will be completed this fall, several months ahead of schedule.
The scope of work for this project varies depending on the condition of the roadway surface and underground utilities. View the project map here to see what work is planned on your block. The type of work planned varies by block but includes the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing them with new, smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing them with new, smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
