Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC has completed the main sections of the bike and pedestrian path approaching either side of Wisner Bridge. Completion of the barrier walls that separate the path from Wisner Boulevard on the lake (north) side of the bridge, brings the project to 85 percent complete.
Construction of curb extensions, path connections and ramp work required by the Americans with Disabilities Act continues at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and DeSaix Street. Traffic signals will be upgraded at both intersections to include pedestrian countdown signals.
The project scope of work includes:
- Constructing a new off-street bicycle and ped estrian path along Bayou St. John;
- Connecting new path to the existing 12-ft. wide bicycle and pedestrian path on Wisner Bridge; and
- Establishing new bicycle and pedestrian connections across Wisner Boulevard at DeSaix Boulevard, into City Park.
This project is now scheduled to be completed in the fall.
