TKTMJ Construction has begun work on the Breakwater Drive Improvement Project. Materials that will be used to reinforce the retaining wall are currently being delivered to the worksite by barge. Crews plan to start on the patch, mill, overlay and incidental road repairs portion of the project in the coming weeks. Residents in the area will continue to be notified as work progresses.
This $5M project was designed by All South Engineering and includes the following scope of work:
- Repaving the asphalt roadway;
- Patching the roadway with asphalt or concrete;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons;
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections;
- Adding riprap and rehabilitating the breakwater retaining wall;
- Adding sidewalk along the retaining wall on both the north and west berms;
- Rehabilitating the parking areas along Breakwater Drive; and
- Rehabilitating the boat launch area and parking lot.
