Command Construction Industries, LLC crews are now 88 percent complete with the Fleur de Lis Drive Phase III Reconstruction Project between 30th Street and Old Hammond Highway in the West End neighborhood.
The north (lake) bound travel lane is complete. The south (river) bound traffic has been re-routed to Pontchartrain Boulevard as crews work on placing pavement and installing new utilities.
New utilities between Old Hammond Highway and 38th Street have been installed and crews have completed placing new concrete pavement on the south bound roadbed. Sidewalk work is currently underway. Crews are currently connecting the new pavement to the side streets and cross over sections of the neutral ground.
Residents are reminded to use caution when walking, biking and driving through active construction sites and be mindful of onsite traffic detour signage, safety barrels and cones.
Inclement weather has slightly slowed the project progress, and crews are now scheduled to be complete in early 2019, weather permitting. The scope of this project includes:
- Removing and replacing the underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The City has used this project to correct a number of unpermitted activities on this portion of the roadway including driveways placed without permits and excessive paving.
