The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Barriere Construction, LLC is scheduled to complete repaving Maurepas Street between Gentilly Boulevard and Esplanade Avenue and Mystery Street from Esplanade Avenue to Maurepas Street this month.
During excavation, crews discovered a damaged sewer line, which needed to be repaired. This additional repair slowed progress, slightly, but the approximately $400,000 repaving project is still on track to be completed this month. Barriere Construction, LLC’s scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt pavement;
- Installing new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at appropriate intersections;
- Completing a sewer line repair at the intersection of Maurepas Street and N. Lopez Street, which required a full closure of the intersection; and
- Completing minor sewer house connection work.
Throughout construction, parking may be limited within the construction zone. Please expect traffic delays and allow additional time to reach your destination.
In general, construction crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday work may occur when inclement weather prevents work from occurring as scheduled the previous week. Residents are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near active construction sites.
