Durr Heavy Construction, LLC crews are currently 40 percent complete with the Westbank Group A project scope. Crews are working in the Algiers Point neighborhood and scheduled to be in Algiers Point until the spring of 2019. Crews are also using a portion of the batture area as a staging and laydown yard. The staging area is contractually required to be returned to its original condition at the conclusion of construction.
Crews are removing damaged concrete panels and building new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps and sidewalks. If street name tiles are disturbed during construction of the new ramps, they will be replaced. Street name tiles have already been ordered and are onsite awaiting installation as the crews progress. Asphalt work will follow concrete work.
The Westbank Group A project is the first of two planned FEMA-funded construction projects on the Westbank of New Orleans. This first project was designed by Richard C. Lambert Consultants, LLC and includes approximately $3.7M in construction work throughout the Westbank. The construction value is expected to increase in the future as the project team addresses constructability issues.
