Command Construction Industries, LLC crews are now 42 percent complete with the Fleur de Lis Drive Phase III Reconstruction Project between 30th Street and Old Hammond Highway in the West End neighborhood.
Concrete paving operations in the roadway began in the northbound travel lane earlier this year and have now reached 38th Street. Crews will continue placing fresh concrete sidewalks and curbs between Old Hammond Highway and 38th Street this month. Excavation operations to facilitate new utility installation between 38th Street and 30th Street will continue through the spring.
The two-way traffic detour on the traditionally northbound travel lane continues on Fleur de Lis Drive from 30th Street to 37th Street; however, at the 37th Street neutral ground crossover, lake bound traffic has now been detoured to the traditionally south (river) bound travel lane. The (river) bound travel has been re-routed to minor streets.
Residents are reminded to use caution when walking, biking and driving through active construction sites, and be mindful of onsite traffic detour signage.
The project is now scheduled to be complete in fall 2018. The scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
