The second of thirteen planned FEMA-funded construction projects, which will help improve road conditions in the Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood, began in January. The $3.4M Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group A project was designed by Neel - Schaffer, Inc. and is being constructed by Beverly Construction LLC.
Crews are currently working from N. Tonti Street to N. Dorgenois Street removing damaged concrete in preparation for new sidewalks and driveway aprons. Work will continue on the northern and western portions of the area bounded by N. Claiborne Avenue, Jackson Barracks, Florida Avenue and Caffin Avenue through June 2018.
The Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group A project scope of work includes:
- Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb;
- Patching the roadway with asphalt;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at appropriate intersections.
