The Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project is approximately 43 percent complete. The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC. Inclement weather and unforeseen site conditions shifted the project schedule, so it is now scheduled to be completed in summer 2018.
Crews have completed installing new water, sewer and drainage lines from Lourdes Street to Deauville Court. This month crews will continue installing utilities from Deauville Court working toward Dwyer Road. The majority of drainage line installation in the lake bound travel lane is expected to be completed in the next several weeks. Paving operations will follow utility installation.
Traffic control signs and barrels are in place to keep residents and commuters safe. Please mind the traffic control signs and barricades and never move them from their assigned locations.
The $3.8M reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turnaround on Dwyer Road;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Highway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
