Command Construction Industries, LLC has completed all the utility work on the river side of S. Galvez Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Toledano Street. Traffic is on Toledano Street is reduced to one lane while the river side of the project is detoured to S. Claiborne Avenue and S. Broad Street for the duration of construction. Concrete paving work is tentatively scheduled to occur weekly for the remainder of the project duration.
The S. Galvez Street Infrastructure Improvement Project will enhance the public area and trigger subsequent recovery and investment in surrounding neighborhoods. The project was designed in accordance with the City of New Orleans’ Complete Streets policy.
Landscaping is scheduled to be planted at the end of the project.

- Widening the neutral ground;
- Narrowing the roadway from 35 ft. to 26 ft.; and
- Reconfiguring the roadway from two travel lanes and one parking lane to one travel lane, one dedicated bicycle lane and one parking lane.
