Durr Heavy Construction, LLC crews are currently working in the Algiers Point neighborhood through the spring of 2019. Multiple crews are removing damaged concrete panels and building new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps and sidewalks. All street name tiles disturbed during construction of the new ramps will be replaced. New street name tiles are already onsite awaiting installation. Asphalt work is also scheduled to resume this month.
Residents are asked to be mindful of No Parking signage installed prior to roadwork. Vehicles are eligible for towing if not moved in advance of construction crews.
The Westbank Group A project is the first of two planned FEMA-funded construction projects on the Westbank of New Orleans. This first project was designed by Richard C. Lambert Consultants, LLC and includes approximately $3.7 M in construction work throughout the Westbank. The construction value is expected to increase in the future as the project team addresses constructability issues.
