On February 4, 2020, crews began excavating portions of Pontalba and Hawthorne streets for the installation of new water lines. The work is part of the $7M infrastructure improvement project that will affect nearly two dozen streets in the area.

The Hagan-Lafitte Project continues as Command Construction completed a large drainage tie in and began prep work for paving on Toulouse Street. Eventually, bioswales will be installed throughout the streetscape in order to help drain excessive water from the neighborhood.

In addition to roadway work, TKTMJ Construction will begin testing the slurry (a special concrete mixture used to bind the rip rap rocks of the retaining wall) on the Breakwater Drive project this month. Immediately following the testing, work will begin on the west berm launch parking/docking. Crews recently completed the subsurface drainage work throughout the project.

City of New Orleans contractor, Beverly Construction recently receieved approval from the Department of Public Works, Sewerage and Water Board and FEMA to add roadway and waterline work to the West End Group A project. This additional scope of work will address preexistent shallow waterlines and elevation issues throughout the project – including necessary elevation corrections on 22nd Street. The project will now be wrapped up in early 2021 in order to accomadate the new scope.

The City is giving new projects the go-ahead and working to keep current projects on schedule so that we can swiftly work to improve our roads.
