We are making significant headway in fixing our infrastructure. Combining local and federal dollars, our $2.3B Capital Improvement Project is the most comprehensive infrastructure revamp our region has seen in decades. The City is giving new projects the go-ahead and working to keep current projects on schedule so that we can swiftly work to improve our roads.
The RoadworkNOLA success stories highlighted in this newsletter include:
District A: Project construction was completed in February on the $2.2M Taft Place Emergency full road reconstruction project. This project included improvements to surface and subsurface portions of the road.
District B: We celebrated the launch of the $4M Freret Group A roadwork project with a groundbreaking ceremony in early February.
District C: Work is nearly wrapping-up on the $7.8M West Bank Group A project, one of two planned FEMA-funded construction projects on the Westbank of New Orleans.
District D: We are continuing to make progress on roadwork across the Filmore neighborhood, with construction work moving forward on the $6.5M Filmore North Group B and $4.4M Filmore South Group A projects. Including these projects, the estimated budget for planned work throughout the entire Filmore neighborhood – including engineering, design, geotechnical testing and construction – is approximately $67M.
District E: We celebrated the launch of the $3.6M Read East Group B roadwork project with a groundbreaking ceremony last month. This is one of several planned projects invested in the Read East neighborhood.
Sincerely,
LaToya Cantrell
Mayor, City of New Orleans
