This month the contractor continued waterline installations, tie-ins and repairs on the Lower Ninth Ward South Group A infrastructure improvement project. Crews continued waterline work throughout the project including on Urquhart Street.
Residents in the area will be notified of work that will impact vehicular access and / or cause disruptions to their utilities. RoadworkNOLA will also notify residents in advance of any extended day or weekend work that may be necessary.
This $7.6M project was designed by IMS Engineers and is being constructed by Command Construction Industries, LLC.
Construction started in August 2020 and is expected to be complete in summer 2021, weather permitting. This is a patch, mill, overlay with incidental road repairs project and work varies block by block to include:
- Replacing damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway;
- Replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The City of New Orleans hosted a virtual meeting via WebEx in July 2020 to discuss anticipated impacts to the community. View a copy of the presentation here. For more information about this project and other upcoming work, please visit roadwork.nola.gov or call 504.658.ROAD (7623).
