The City has completed major construction on the first phase of the FQIIP in the 100–400 blocks of Bourbon Street. Improvements include:
- Enhanced Public Safety: Upgraded lighting, more security cameras and a new movable safety bollard system.
- Fewer Outages: Increased number of valves on each block to minimize outages.
- Better drainage: Upgraded drainage system that will result in great improvements during rain events.
- Better Sewer System: Rehabilitated sewer system that will reduce the risk of potholes and improve the smell.
- Enhanced Reliability: New high pressure natural gas system, which means better reliability of service to businesses along this corridor.

500 – 800 (St. Louis – St. Ann) - Intermittent Closures Timeline: Jan. 3 – Jan. 31, 2018
- In order to help minimize construction impacts and accelerate construction of Phase II, which includes Bourbon Street from St. Louis to St. Ann Streets, the City is conducting exploratory trenching throughout the month of January.
- The exploratory work will help identify the exact locations and size of existing utilities, which were either missing or inaccurately depicted on available Bourbon Street construction drawings.
Phase II of the FQIIP will be bid through a separate contract this spring. We anticipate that construction will begin in May 2018.
Residents and business owners in the French Quarter can expect to be updated on construction status via weekly e-mail updates and in person bi-weekly meetings. To be added to the project contact list, email roadwork@nola.gov. View the project webpage here.
