The $4.3M St. Charles Avenue Repaving Project, which is a joint effort between the City of New Orleans and Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, will be substantially complete by the end of January. Crews will demobilize by January 31 in preparation for the first Uptown route Mardi Gras parade on February 2.
The scope of the project includes removing and replacing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway between Louisiana Avenue and Calliope Street.
The City of New Orleans’ construction contractor Boh Bros Construction Co. LLC is working extended hours and most weekends for the remainder of the project to meet the above mentioned deadline.
Currently, crews are performing the following tasks:
- Asphalt placement and striping: Placing asphalt and striping in both east and westbound travel lanes, and parking lanes on St. Charles Avenue.
- Cleaning and removing all debris: All construction material will be cleaned up or removed by the end of this month.
Crews will return after Mardi Gras to place sod, install permanent striping and complete other minor punch list items. The entire project will be wrapped up in February 2018, weather permitting.
