The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works and Sewerage & Water Board began a full reconstruction project on Bourbon Street from St. Louis to Dumaine streets (500-800 blocks) on September 17, 2018. Work is occurring sequentially from the 500 – 800 blocks, with ONLY one block fenced off at a time throughout construction. All businesses along this corridor are open and accessible throughout construction.
Crews have completed work in the 500 block (pictured) and are wrapping up construction of the new waterline, drain line and roadway in the 600 block roadway. Once the fence has been removed from the 600 block roadway and relocated to the first part of the 700 block roadway, crews will simultaneously begin work on the new waterline in the 700 block and sidewalks in the 600 block.
The $9.5 million cost-shared project, which is anticipated to run through June 2019, was designed by Mott McDonald, LLC and will be constructed by Hard Rock Construction, LLC. Project partners include Entergy Electric, Entergy Gas, Cox Communications and AT&T.
More details about the Phase 2 improvements were provided during a pre-construction public meeting presentation on August 28.
Weekly updates and all information pertaining to the Bourbon Phase 2 project are being posted on www.roadwork.nola.gov/bourbon.
