The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Barriere Construction, LLC has substantially completed the planned repaving and utility work on Maurepas Street between Gentilly Boulevard and Esplanade Avenue and Mystery Street from Esplanade Avenue to Maurepas Street this month.
During excavation, crews discovered a damaged sewer line that needed to be repaired. This additional repair and poor weather slowed progress slightly. The $400,000 repaving project is scheduled to be completed this month with only minor punch list items remaining. Barriere Construction, LLC’s scope of work included:
- Removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt pavement;
- Installing new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at appropriate intersections;
- Completing a sewer line repair at the intersection of Maurepas Street and N. Lopez Street, which required a full closure of the intersection; and
- Completing minor sewer house connection work.
