We are making significant headway in fixing our infrastructure. Combining local and federal dollars, our $2.3B Capital Improvement Project is the most comprehensive infrastructure revamp our region has seen in decades. The City is giving new projects the go-ahead and working to keep current projects on schedule so that we can swiftly work to improve our roads.
The RoadworkNOLA success stories highlighted in this newsletter include:
District A: Roadwork on the $7M Navarre Group A project began this week. This project will bring curb-to-curb roadway improvements for our surrounding community members around Delgado and the Navarre, City Park area.
District B: A $4M project in the Freret area broke ground on Monday. The roadwork project will include surface and subsurface improvements, including replacing/repairing underground drainage and sewer lines.
District C: The first of two planned Joint Infrastructure projects is nearly complete on the West Bank of New Orleans. The $7.8M FEMA-funded project includes roadwork improvements on several streets: Vivian Court, Bender Drive, Marr Avenue, as well as an area in Algiers Point.
District D: The approximately $6.5M Filmore North Group A project is nearly 90 percent complete. The overall project scope varies by block and includes curb-to-curb road paving, sidewalk repairs within the public right of way and various incidental road repairs.
District E: My Office in conjunction with Department of Public Works (DPW), Sewerage and Water Board (SWBNO) and project partners, participated in two District E project groundbreakings in January. Read East Group B and Pines Village Group A, with a combined project value of $16.3M, will bring significant surface and subsurface improvements to those neighborhoods.
Sincerely,
LaToya Cantrell
Mayor, City of New Orleans
