Fleming Construction crews are now working extensively on Press Drive, Congress Drive and Mithra Street as the Pontilly Neighborhood Stormwater Network is nearly 50 percent complete.
Green bioswales that will be stocked with native vegetation are being installed in various parts of the historic neighborhood to help retain stormwater. In the next month, engineers will be installing pipes in the Pontchartrain Park neighborhood alleyways that will connect the drainage system into a vast water storage network capable of alleviating flooding in the area.
The $15M Pontilly Neighborhood Stormwater Network extends from Stephen Girard Avenue to Southern University at New Orleans. A pre-construction community meeting was held in February 2019 at Mary D. Coghill Elementary School. View the pre-construction public meeting presentation here.
