Traffic Advisory: Temporary Closure on Lake bound Canal Street between Decatur and Royal streets

Beginning on Monday, February 1 through Saturday, February 13, 2021, the lake bound lanes of Canal Street between Decatur and Royal streets will be closed to vehicular traffic. The closure is necessary to facilitate a series of crane lifts to replace cooling towers at 555 Canal Street. Commuters are advised to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near this area.

Traffic Advisory: Temporary Closure of Cambronne and Birch Streets Intersection for Infrastructure Upgrades

Beginning on Monday, Feb. 1, through Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, weather permitting, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works contractor Wallace C. Drennan, Inc. will close the intersection at Cambronne and Birch streets to vehicular traffic as part of the Hollygrove, Leonidas Group A project. Traffic controls and signage will be in place; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near the construction site.

PONTCHARTRAIN PARK GROUP A CONTINUES NEW ROADWAY CONSTRUCTION IN THE HISTORIC PONTCHARTRAIN PARK NEIGHBORHOOD

Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC crews continue to install new and improved water line systems to replace the 70+ year-old systems currently in place. This month crews will begin to install new water line systems on Prentiss Avenue, Odin Street, and Athis Court. Residents who live on certain blocks along Mendez Street, Debore Drive, Madrid Street, Feliciana Street, and Montegut Street have received new concrete roadways and curbs as part of the  project. Additionally, crews are scheduled to continue concrete roadway pours on blocks of Pauline Street.

ST. BERNARD GROUP A PROJECT STARTS ROADWAY PAVING ON HARRISON AVENUE, CONTINUES NEW WATER LINE INSTALLATIONS

Beverly Construction Co. has completed new water line system installations on the 1300 and 1340 blocks of Harrison Avenue and are beginning new roadway paving this month as part of the St. Bernard Group A infrastructure improvement project.  Crews are closing out the installation of new and improved water line systems and tie-ins on the 1300 block of Senate, 1500 block of Harrison, 4100 block of Gibson, and the 3700 block of Gibson.  As of this completed in fall 2021, weather permitting.

GENTILLY RESILIENCE DISTRICT UPDATES

The Gentilly Resilience District (GRD) is a combination of resilience programs and projects in the targeted area of Gentilly, designed to reduce flood risk, slow land subsidence, improve energy reliability and spur neighborhood revitalization. The city’s first Resilience District uses various approaches to water and land management that have been successfully piloted throughout New Orleans and, when implemented together, are intended to create even greater neighborhood benefits such as improved health, economic opportunity, environmental education, and recreation.
