Fleming Construction Co., LLC, CDM Smith, and the Department of Public Works engineers are working to finalize the green alleyways, paint striping and stormwater lots that are part of the $15M flood protection system in the historic Pontchartrain Park neighborhood.
This Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) project is an example of an environmentally sustainable flood water management system that will help protect the historic neighborhood during a catastrophic storm. The project is currently more than 95 percent complete.
The Pontilly Neighborhood Stormwater Network extends from Stephen Girard Avenue to Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). A pre-construction community meeting was held in February 2019 at Mary D. Coghill Elementary School. View the pre-construction public meeting presentation here.
