Public safety is our priority as we continue our infrastructure work during this trying time for our city. The wellbeing of the crews working at our job sites is also paramount, which is why we are in constant communication with our contractors to ensure that all workers are washing hands regularly, practicing social distancing on sites and furthermore, staying home if they are feeling sick in any way.
On our capital side, we currently have 10 projects under construction valued at more than $71M. Between maintenance projects and RoadworkNOLA (Joint Infrastructure Program), we currently have 69 Department of Public Works projects under construction valued at nearly $480M.
The RoadworkNOLA success stories highlighted in this newsletter include:
- District A: Crews are breaking ground on the $5.1M Black Pearl Group B project. The project is expected to be completed in winter 2021.
- District B: The $6.3M Mid-City Group A infrastructure and road improvement project is nearing completion, with crews recently completing sidewalk repairs, curb and gutter work. This is part of a larger infrastructure improvement project spanning across the Mid-City neighborhood.
- District C: The $7M West Bank Group B project, which began construction in March s2020 is nearing completion, expected in spring 2021. The scope of work varies but includes, incidental road repairs, patch concrete work and repairing damaged sidewalks.
- District D: The $1.5M St. Claude Drainage Improvements project is nearing completion by the end of December. This project was funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant Program.
- District E: The $18.2M Pines Village Group A infrastructure improvement project, which broke ground in January 2020, is set to near completion in the coming months. Water main installations are being completed on multiple streets throughout the area.
