The $6.4M Viavant-Lake Catherine Group C project broke ground in July 2020. Designed by All South Consulting Engineers, LLC the project is being constructed by Command Construction Industries, LLC. This month, the contractor continued road construction at Industrial Parkway and Old Gentilly Road. Through close collaboration with the Department of Public Works (DPW), the contractor began planning for work along Downman Road that will require a temporary traffic shift. This work is slated to begin in late-January and residents and businesses will be notified before work starts.
The project is expected to be completed in summer 2021, weather permitting.
The scope of work varies by block and includes the following:
- Patch Mill/Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
