The long-awaited Michoud Blvd. reconstruction project is approximately 10 percent complete. Crews mobilized to the site in early June and are currently installing a new bus turn around on the Dwyer Rd. neutral ground and are installing the sewer force main in the Michoud Blvd. neutral ground.
A portion of the northbound travel lane has been milled to help facilitate detour traffic. The new asphalt is scheduled to be placed the week of July 23.
The $3.8M reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turn around on Dwyer Rd.;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines Chef Menteur Hwy. to Dwyer Rd.;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Rd., and repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Hwy.; and
- Installing new sidewalks and American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC.
