The Department of Public Works is currently routing the first of nine planned construction projects designed to improve infrastructure in the Filmore neighborhood. Filmore North Group A is the first FEMA-funded project to be awarded and is scheduled to begin this fall.
At this time, the estimated budget - including engineering, design, geotechnical testing and construction - for the entire Filmore neighborhood is $67M. This budget is likely to change pending project bids and construction costs.
Designed by Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation (PEC), the first project will include a variety of work that varies by block and includes some waterline replacements in addition to:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new, smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new, smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
The City will host a pre-construction public meeting to discuss anticipated construction impacts prior to the start of construction. To be added to the project contact list, and to track our progress, visit RoadWork.nola.gov.
