The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, has now completed 65 percent of the first of three planned FEMA-funded construction projects in the Village de L’est neighborhood.
Crews completed asphalt paving operations in the neighborhood between Michoud Boulevard and Toulon Street this month. This work was closely coordinated with the Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction project.
This month, crews will prioritize roadway paving operations as opposed to concrete sidewalk and driveway apron operations.
View the project map here to see what work is planned on your block. The type of work planned varies by block but will include the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new, smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new, smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
