With concrete pours on Lane, Bragg and Memphis streets completed in June, City of New Orleans contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC is now 97 percent finished with the original scope of the Lakeview North Group A project. Manhole adjustments throughout the project have also been completed, and the roadways are currently prepped for asphalt placement.
The City received FEMA approval on additional work (not included in the original plans) that will promote positive drainage so that water can flow to a lower elevation away from buildings and structures, as well as address sidewalk and roadway subsidence. The additional areas of construction will extend the project into summer 2018.
The $2.3M project is designed to correct multiple roadway concerns, and the scope of work varies block by block but will include the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new, smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new, smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
Details of the construction sequencing and timeline were first made available at the pre-construction public meeting. View a copy of the public meeting presentation and details about construction sequencing here.
