The Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project is approximately 60 percent complete and scheduled to be wrapped up at the end of the year. The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC.
The river bound lane of Michoud Boulevard is currently closed between Lourdes Street and Chef Menteur Highway. New asphalt has been placed between Chef Menteur Highway and the Michoud Bridge. This portion of the roadway is scheduled to striped later this month.
Crews continue to install new subsurface utilities near the Michoud Bridge and Lourdes Street. This work is scheduled to last for at least one more month, weather permitting.
The portion of the lake bound roadway between Chef Menteur Highway and Dwyer Road is now open to traffic.
Construction crews continue to work on new concrete curbs and sidewalks on the lake bound lane. The lake bound portion of the roadway between Lourdes Street and Chef Menteur Highway continues to function as a two-way road.
Traffic control signs and barrels are in place to keep residents and commuters safe. Please mind the traffic control signs and barricades, and never move them from their assigned locations.
The reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turnaround on Dwyer Road;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Highway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
