Last month, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works contractor Palmisano Construction closed the southbound lane (right lane) of Elysian Fields Avenue between Lakeshore Drive and Leon C. Simon Drive to begin water line replacements. They are expected to complete the repairs this month.
Crews are working in collaboration with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans to replace waterlines before performing tie-ins to the existing meters. Residents will be notified in advance of any scheduled work that may temporarily disrupt utility services.
Upon completion of the water line work, crews will return to Robert E. Lee Boulevard to complete some driveway and asphalt work. There has been a temporary pause in that area as additional work (not included in the original plans) was identified that will address sidewalk and roadway subsidence. The overall project is currently 22.5 percent complete.
The $2.5M Lake Terrace Group A Incidental Road Repair project includes the following scope of work:
- Patching the roadway with asphalt;
- Replacing damaged portions of concrete with new, level concrete;
- Repairing damaged curbs and gutters;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons;
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersection; and
- Replacing/repairing damaged, underground water and drainage lines.
The City hosted a pre-construction public meeting to discuss the project’s construction sequencing and anticipated impacts. View a copy of the public meeting presentation here.
