Durr Heavy Construction, LLC crews have completed 7 percent of the Westbank Group A project scope. Crews continue to excavate damaged concrete panels and are also removing the top layer of asphalt pavement on several blocks. Repairs to the majority of damaged sidewalks in the Algiers Point and Whitney neighborhoods are underway.
The Westbank Group A project is the first of two planned FEMA-funded construction projects on the Westbank of New Orleans. This first project was designed by Richard C. Lambert Consultants, LLC and includes approximately $3.7M in construction work throughout the Westbank.
The City hosted a pre-construction public meeting in April to discuss the project’s construction sequencing and anticipated impacts. View a copy of the public meeting presentation here. Sign up to receive Westbank Group A project updates here.

The type of work planned varies by block but will include the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new, smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new, smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
