Due to the high river, work in the Algiers Point area has been delayed until water level drops below 15 feet at the Carrollton Gauge. Durr Heavy Construction Co. is currently working on Anson Street and Rue Michelle for approximately five weeks. Both streets have full reconstruction planned, which includes repairing sewage, water, and drainage lines, rebuilding the street entirely and repairing sidewalks and curbs.
Residents are asked to be mindful of ‘No Parking’ signs installed prior to roadwork. Vehicles are eligible for towing if not moved within 24 hours once signs are in place.
The Westbank Group A project is the first of two planned FEMA-funded construction projects on the Westbank of New Orleans. View the project map here.
The type of work planned varies by block but includes the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
