The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Barriere Construction, LLC is approximately 98 percent complete repaving Belleville Street from Socrates Street to Opelousas Street in the McDonogh neighborhood. The approximately $350,000 repaving project was originally scheduled to last three months, but was finished about six weeks ahead of schedule.
Barriere Construction, LLC’s scope of work included:
- Removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt pavement;
- Repairing damaged catch basins and drain lines;
- Installing new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at appropriate intersections;
- Making minimal sidewalk, driveway apron and foot lap adjustments; and
- Adding roadway striping (note – striping is the final remaining item planned.)
Belleville is the first of several Westbank bond-funded projects scheduled to be repaired this year.
In general, construction crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday work may occur when inclement weather prevents work from occurring as scheduled during the previous week. Residents are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near active construction sites.
