The Department of Public Works currently has the first of nine planned construction projects designed to improve infrastructure in the Filmore neighborhood out for public bid. The bid opening for the Filmore North Group A construction project opened the first week of June and will be the first FEMA-funded construction project to begin in the Filmore neighborhood.
At this time, the estimated budget including engineering, design, geotechnical testing and construction planned in the entire Filmore neighborhood is approximately $67M. This budget could change pending project bids and construction costs.
Designed by Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation (PEC), the first project will include a variety of work that varies by block and includes some waterline replacements:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
The City will host a pre-construction public meeting to discuss anticipated construction impacts prior to the start of construction. To be added to the project contact list, and to track our progress, visit RoadWork.nola.gov.
