Fleming Construction is continuing construction along the Mirabeau and Stephen Girard corridors. The preliminary “cut outs” on the road’s shoulder will be used to create bioswales, which are designed to slow down water to allow the city’s pumping system to catch up with its drainage demand.
Residents on Stephen Girard are encouraged to label their trash cans with the appropriate address and place them on the corners for pick up by Metro Garbage Disposal. Contractors will also remove residents’ mailboxes and place temporary ones on the corners so everyone will cotinue to have access during the construction time. This process will take approximately eight weeks before the mailboxes are restored to the normal position. Front-facing residents on Stephen Girard will be given temporary access with a gravel driveway within 24 hours of the initial excavation.
A pre-construction community meeting was held in February at Mary D. Coghill elementary school; view the preconstruction public meeting presentation here.
