FINALIZING SIDEWALKS AND CURBS IN HAGAN LAFITTE PROJECT

New sidewalks are being framed around Easton Park as Command Construction Industries, LLC finishes the final portions of the Hagan Lafitte Drainage project. The project, which is 99 percent complete, will reduce localized flooding by storing up to 1.3 million gallons of storm water.

CITY PARK GROUP A TEMPORARILY REOPENS SHERWOOD FOREST DRIVE TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND RESIDENTIAL PARKING, SEWER LINE REPLACEMENT OPERATIONS SCHEDULED

Sherwod Forest Drive roadway improvements began in Febraury 2021; however due to adjustments in the scope of work, the project came to an abrupt halt in March. Fleming Construction, LLC crews have placed temporary aggregate and reopened the street to vehicular traffic and parking until roadway construction resumes.  Residents will receive notice prior to work resuming.

BLACK PEARL/EAST CARROLLTON GROUP A CONTINUES WITH UTILITY UPGRADES

The $11.9M Black Pearl/East Carrollton Group A project, which began construction in August 2020, continues making progress. Contractor Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC is working on roadway restorations on Oak, Zimple, Cohn and Short streets. Waterline work continues on Birch and Maple streets.  In the coming months, work will also include installation of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramps on portions of Hillary Street. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2022, weather permitting.

WORK PROGRESSING ON THE BLACK PEARL GROUP B PROJECT

Crews began work on the $5.1M Black Pearl Group B project in December 2020. Contractor Infinity Construction is replacing sewer lines in the 7400 and 7600 blocks of Dominican, and this work will continue for the next few months. A full roadway construction has begun in the 300 block of Millaudon Street. Some work has been halted on this project due to high water levels and the proximity to the Mississippi River, but work will resume in those areas as the river levels drop by 11 feet at the Carrollton gauge.

WATERLINE WORK CONTINUES ON LAKEVIEW NORTH GROUP C

In close collaboration with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, Palmisano Construction began waterline tie-ins on the Lakeview North Group C infrastructure improvement project in May. Crews have completed tie-ins on various streets, including General Diaz Street and Orleans Avenue. Work is also progressing on sidewalk and driveway apron installations on this project.
