Village de L’est residents should be on the lookout for work later this spring. Cycle Construction Company, LLC, has been awarded a $3.8 million contract to reconstruct Michoud Blvd. from Chef Menteur Hwy. to Dwyer Rd. The scope of the project includes replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines; repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Rd.; and repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Hwy. Construction crews will also install new sidewalks and American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The reconstruction project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. who will also manage construction of the project which will take approximately one year to complete. During construction commuters, trucks and buses should expect to detour to Alcee Fortier Blvd.
More specific construction details will be available during a pre-construction community meeting. Residents who wish to follow this project may write roadwork@nola.gov or call 504-658-ROAD to be added to the project contact list.
