The City’s construction contractor, Command Construction Industries, LLC is scheduled to break ground on the S. Galvez St. reconstruction project in Central City this spring. The project boundaries are S. Galvez St. between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Toledano St.
In addition to replacing the water, sewer and drainage lines, repaving the roadway and building new sidewalks, the S. Galvez St. project will incorporate green infrastructure building methods. The parking lane on either side of the roadway will be constructed with pervious concrete instead of a solid concrete. Pervious concrete absorbs and detains water, which reduces the amount of water that requires pumping and processing by the City’s storm water drainage system.
