The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works (DPW), in conjunction with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, began infrastructure improvements and road repairs in New Orleans East in February 2020.
Crews from DPW contractor Wallace C. Drennan Inc. recently installed new water lines and performed sewer line point repairs. This month, the contractor will be placing concrete on Dreux Avenue between Francis Drive and Downman Road; removing existing asphalt and base and replacing with new base and asphalt on Shalimar Drive; placing a new stone base and new concrete for the roadway and curbs on Virgilian Street, Foch Road and Harbor Circle; and removing/replacing sewer lines on Francis and Majestic Oaks Drive. The project scope also includes repairing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and installing ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The approximately $12.7M project was designed by All South Consulting Engineers Inc., and is estimated to be complete in the fall of 2022, weather permitting.
