Crews have completed the $642K Lakeview Pervious Alleyway Restoration Pilot Program and the alleys passed the final infiltration tests. The pilot program began in summer 2020. Funded by the City of New Orleans, the project was developed to help address flooding issues in Lakeview alleys. Ths pilot included installing pervious pavement to help re-direct stormwater and alleviate flooding in the alleys behind the 6200 block of Marshall Foch (between Harrison Avenue and French Street) and the 6300 block of Argonne Boulevard (between Harrison and Bragg Street).
Construction contractor Barriere has wrapped up work on all three of the roadway improvement projects in the Marigny neighborhood in preparation for the Moving New Orleans Bike Marigny / French Quarter Transportation Network. Pavement restoration was completed this month on Royal Street between Elysian Fields and Esplanade avenues. The $1.8M city-funded roadway improvement projects included paving on Elysian Fields and re-striping the roadway to reduce the roadway to two travel lanes and to add a bike lane from North Peters to St. Claude, and on Franklin Avenue from North Peters to St. Claude Patch.
