Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC crews began removing the roadway surface on General Diaz between Homedale and Pontalba this month, and patched areas along Vicksburg and Homedale streets. Crews replaced the faulty hydrant at Louque and General Diaz streets, and applied the binder layer of asphalt to portions of East Park and Central Park places. The roadway base on South Park Place was removed and will be regraded. A density test will be performed before the binder layer is reinstalled. Binder is one of the final layers of pavement restoration and it is drivable.
The project, which began in February 2020, includes $7M worth of infrastructure improvements and affects nearly two dozen streets in the area. In addition to repairing and replacing damaged roadways and patching concrete, crews will also be repairing sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs on various streets throughout the project area. Work is scheduled to be complete in summer 2021, weather permitting.
